The Vienna Philharmonic performs in Salzburg, Austria, every summer. In this very special all-music and scenic feature, members of the orchestra and others play at historic sites and concert settings in Salzburg, the beautiful city and birthplace of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791).
In 2016, Salzburg celebrates its 200th year as part of Austria. In this light-hearted tribute to the city and Mozart, a melodic soundtrack accompanies views of the picturesque city and the stunning Alpine landscape surrounding it. Your guide is Mozart himself, who became a musician at the Salzburg court at the age of 17. Here, he is delighted to find himself transported to 2016 Salzburg, where he tours the monasteries, summer palaces, flower and vegetable markets; poses for photos with tourists; and witnesses rehearsals and performances.
